Under the 2026 FDD, Woodcraft is a single-format specialty retail system: the franchisee operates an approved Woodcraft Retail Store selling authorized woodworking tools, supplies and educational programs to woodworking professionals, hobbyists and enthusiasts. The franchisee runs people and day-to-day retail execution; the franchisor controls the operating framework, approved offering, technology, marketing standards and channel rules.
Offering and demand
What does a Woodcraft Retail Store sell, and who buys it?
A Woodcraft Retail Store sells the Products defined by the 2026 FDD: woodworking tools, supplies, books, seminars, classes, demonstrations and other educational programs, plus related authorized offerings. Item 1 names saws, drills, lathes, planes, do-it-yourself kits and how-to books. Core buyers are woodworking professionals, hobbyists and enthusiasts.
Authorized Products
The store carries Branded Products and other approved inventory. Woodcraft Franchise, LLC can add, delete or change approved categories, while the franchisee must maintain adequate, representative inventory to meet anticipated consumer demand.
Classes, seminars and demonstrations
The Operations Manual table of contents covers Educational Programs, Scheduling, Instructors and Lecturers, Fees, Registration and Program Evaluation. Current Woodcraft class listings and store demonstrations confirm these remain customer-facing channels.
The franchisee cannot broaden the assortment without approval. Item 16 requires the store to sell only authorized categories and all items or services the franchisor designates as mandatory. Wholesale selling, selling from other locations, and franchisee-operated Internet, catalogue or mail-order selling are prohibited.

Customer-to-record workflow
How does work move through the store after opening?
The disclosed workflow is retail-centered. Approved local and brand marketing feeds the Retail Store; employees sell Products and educational programs; transactions run through the required Computer System; controlled suppliers replenish inventory; and sales, customer and accounting data feed franchisor reporting and audit systems.

Owner and labor
Can a Woodcraft store be manager-run?
An entity franchisee may use a General Manager, but the FDD does not describe an absentee model. Item 15 requires the owner or General Manager to directly supervise the Woodcraft Retail Store, while the owner retains oversight. An individual franchisee's signing parties agree to personally manage and operate the Retail Store.
At all times the store is open, the owner or trained General Manager must be responsible for operations. A replacement General Manager must successfully complete the Initial Training Program. For an entity franchisee, the General Manager also may not devote significant management responsibility or time to another business.
The franchisee hires store personnel and controls compensation, scheduling, benefits, discipline and other employment decisions. The Operations Manual table of contents includes Owner/Operator, Manager, Assistant Manager and Woodworking Consultant job descriptions, but no store headcount or staffing ratio is disclosed. The requirement is enough trained, competent employees to meet required standards.

Inputs and infrastructure
Which suppliers and technology are mandatory?
Woodcraft Supply, LLC is not the franchisor, but it is the sole supplier of Branded Products and required help-desk provider under the Retail System Support Agreement. Other inventory and operating supplies must meet franchisor specifications and, when required, come from Approved Suppliers whose approval can be revised or revoked.
Required retail and data stack
Required security and support layer
The franchisor can require hardware or software upgrades with no contractual cap on frequency or cost. The Retail System Support Agreement also gives the franchisor unlimited, independent access to the franchisee's store-system data.

Decision rights
What does Woodcraft control, and what remains with the franchisee?
Woodcraft Franchise, LLC controls brand standards, the approved offering, hours, marketing approval, required technology, suppliers and channel boundaries. The franchisee controls day-to-day execution, employees and decisions expressly reserved to the owner, including store prices.
Franchisee decisions
- Hire, pay, schedule and discipline Retail Store employees.
- Run day-to-day operations under the required System.
- Set Retail Store prices; the franchisor may only suggest pricing.
- Select a site subject to franchisor approval and operate the local store.
- Choose among permitted vendors where a sole or designated source is not required.
The franchisor controls
- Authorized and required Products and services.
- Manual standards, merchandising, décor, signage and hours of operation.
- Local advertising approval and Social Media standards.
- Computer System specifications, required updates and data access.
- Geographic boundaries, site approval, audits and inspections.
Affiliate / third-party dependencies
- Woodcraft Supply, LLC supplies Branded Products.
- Woodcraft Supply, LLC provides required Retail System Support.
- TSYS or another designated processor handles card processing.
- Stored Value Solutions administers the gift-card program.
- Approved Suppliers provide other specified inventory and operating inputs.

Territory and channels
How exclusive is the Territory, and can the franchisee sell online?
The defined Territory protects against another Woodcraft Retail Store established or licensed by the franchisor while the franchisee is not in breach. A typical area has about 350,000 people and contains the approved store. The franchisor and affiliates still reserve Internet, direct-mail and catalogue distribution rights inside it without required compensation.
The franchisee cannot solicit or accept orders from consumers outside its assigned area and cannot use Internet, catalogue, mail-order or other direct-distribution methods to make sales. Item 16 separately bars wholesale sales and sales from locations other than the Woodcraft Retail Store. The protected geography therefore does not equal exclusive ownership of online demand inside the area.
Current Woodcraft pages provide a centralized store locator, local store pages and class sign-up. The 2026 FDD reserves Internet commerce and website control to the franchisor side of the System. It does not explain how centrally booked classes or Internet-originated demand are attributed to a local franchisee, so that allocation requires verification.

System footprint
What does Item 20 show about the operating network?
At December 31, 2025, Item 20 reports 65 outlets: 54 franchised Woodcraft Retail Stores and 11 in its “Company-Owned” category, all owned by affiliate Woodcraft Supply, LLC. Franchised outlets declined from 64 at 2023 year-end to 54 at 2025 year-end; the affiliate-owned count moved from 10 to 11.
Interpretation: the operating network remains predominantly franchised, but Item 20 records a smaller franchised outlet base than two years earlier.

Buyer verification
Which operating questions are still not fully disclosed?
The 2026 FDD details control rights, technology, sourcing and supervision but not every local procedure. The confidential Operations Manual and FDD do not disclose store headcount, shift design, class-instructor economics or allocation of every centrally generated digital transaction to a franchised Retail Store.
- Confirm the current Approved Suppliers list and which non-Branded Products have mandatory versus optional sourcing.
- Review the current Operations Manual provisions for Daily Store Procedures, sales practices, educational-program registration and required store hours.
- Verify the Microsoft Dynamics 365, TSYS/Genius Pay, security-license and hardware configuration required for the store.
- Ask how Woodcraft.com class sign-ups, gift-card redemptions, customer records and Internet-originated demand are credited or settled at the local store level.
- Confirm the assigned-area map and any nearby Woodcraft Supply store, catalogue activity or centralized digital overlap.
Public operating context: Woodcraft's consumer operating overview, official store locator, class pages and franchise support pages; contractual controls remain governed by the 2026 FDD and attached agreements.
Operating synthesis
What is the Woodcraft operating model in practical terms?
The central mechanism is a locally operated Woodcraft Retail Store converting woodworking demand into authorized product and educational-program transactions. The franchisee must supervise the store, staff it, maintain inventory and execute customer service within required operating standards. The strongest dependency is Woodcraft Franchise, LLC control over products, technology, standards and channels, reinforced by Woodcraft Supply, LLC as sole Branded Products supplier and required IT-support provider.
The key distinction is an exclusive physical-store area without exclusive Internet demand, while pricing and employment decisions remain with the franchisee. The largest undisclosed operating question is how centrally generated digital demand, especially class sign-ups and other Woodcraft.com activity, is settled or attributed locally.
