A current LINE-X Store is a brick-and-mortar vehicle-upfit operation: the franchisee generates local demand, scopes and schedules jobs, buys controlled coatings, accessories and equipment, and uses trained personnel to apply spray-on coatings or install vehicle upgrades. LINE-X LLC supplies the operating system, product controls, technology, marketing infrastructure and audit framework.
What does a LINE-X franchise sell, and who buys it?
The Franchised Business sells Vehicle Upfit Services to retail vehicle owners and commercial accounts, with a required Core Services menu and optional Choice Services defined in the Confidential Operations Manual.
Item 1 defines Vehicle Upfit Services as aftermarket accessories, enhancements and improvements to existing vehicles. Core Services include the sale and application of LINE-X brand spray-on Coating Products plus the sale and installation of LINE-X BRANDED PRODUCTS and other Accessories. Choice Services are optional products and services that a franchisee may elect to offer, but the authorized menu can be changed by LINE-X LLC.
The disclosed customer base includes the general public and businesses seeking vehicle upfits. Official consumer pages show a practical retail mix of spray-on bedliners, protective coatings, tonneau covers, step bars, truck toppers, towing equipment, cargo products, window tint and other customization work. The National Fleet Services Program adds selected fleet and commercial accounts, but participation is voluntary, qualification-based and controlled by LINE-X LLC.
How does work move through a LINE-X Store?
The public documents do not prescribe one universal work-order sequence. The workflow below conservatively connects the disclosed demand, quoting, ordering, technical, payment and reporting functions without assuming undisclosed staffing or timing.

LINE-X LLC defines the authorized menu, product inputs, systems and quality controls, but the franchisee controls daily job sequencing, customer-facing execution, local staffing and employment decisions. The FDD does not disclose a mandatory headcount, shift model or standard labor time per job.
Who performs each function?
This is not disclosed as an absentee model. The Owner must personally manage the LINE-X Store for the first 12 months, and the Store must always be managed full time by a trained Designated Manager.
Owner
Completes mandatory training, personally manages the first year, supervises the Franchised Business, funds operations, maintains legal compliance and remains responsible for all employment and operating decisions.
Designated Manager
Provides full-time management after successful LINE-X manager training. For a multi-unit operator unable to manage each Store personally during its first year, a full-time manager requires prior written approval.
Store employees
May perform inside sales, outside sales, customer engagement, vehicle intake, preparation, spray application, accessory installation, ordering, recordkeeping and follow-up. The franchisee—not LINE-X LLC—hires, fires, pays, trains and disciplines them.
Which suppliers and operating systems are mandatory?
The model is supplier- and platform-dependent: approved chemical, equipment and accessory channels feed the shop, while the required POS System records sales, shop activity, Customer Data and reporting information accessible to LINE-X LLC.
Controlled supply chain
- LINE-X Products
- Coating Products and designated branded products must be purchased from LINE-X LLC, an affiliate or another designated supplier.
- LINE-X Direct
- Required ordering process for designated equipment, chemicals and consumables, with payment through the designated account.
- Accessories
- Purchased through approved supplier programs and portals identified in the Manual.
- Supplier changes
- LINE-X LLC may designate one or multiple suppliers, concentrate purchasing and revoke approvals.
Required technology stack
- POS System
- Required for shop management, communication, reference portals, sales recording and operational reporting.
- Initial Software Package
- Includes POS setup and training, LINE-X online training, Microsoft Office 365 and LINE-X Portal access.
- Local infrastructure
- Computer hardware, broadband, email capability and accounting software meeting current Manual standards.
- Data relationship
- LINE-X LLC has full system access and claims ownership and control of Customer Data.
Using unapproved equipment, products or services can trigger default, termination and a Compliance Royalty. A franchisee may propose a new item or supplier, but LINE-X LLC controls the review, approval conditions and later revocation.
What does the franchisor control, and what remains with the franchisee?
LINE-X LLC controls the System, Marks, authorized menu, supplier network, technology standards, brand marketing and inspection rights. The franchisee retains day-to-day operational control and carries the legal responsibility for employees, customers, the Premises and local compliance.

How far does the Territory protection reach?
The Territory is exclusive only against another brick-and-mortar retail LINE-X Store opened or franchised by LINE-X LLC while the franchisee remains compliant; it is not exclusive against every product, channel, affiliate or account.
The franchisee operates from an accepted Premises inside a mapped Territory. Local advertising, solicitation, truck pickup and delivery are confined to that Territory, and selling through the Internet, catalogs, telemarketing or other channels outside it requires written permission. A franchisee website or page must connect to the LINE-X website, and LINE-X LLC reserves control over domains and digital presence.
Reserved channels are substantial. LINE-X LLC and Franchisor-Related Parties may sell products or services into the Territory through the website, mail, trained mobile applicators, the National Fleet Services Program or another non-Store channel. They may also operate or authorize other concepts and competitive brands. A Development Area protects the scheduled right to develop specified Stores, but the Development Agreement does not grant a separate exclusive territory across all channels.
“Exclusive Territory” should not be read as exclusive customer ownership. The strongest protection is against a second brick-and-mortar LINE-X Store; internet, mobile, fleet, affiliate and alternative-brand activity remains reserved.
What does Item 20 reveal about the operating network?
Item 20 reports a franchise-only U.S. network that contracted sharply over the three disclosed year-end periods, from 418 franchised outlets in 2023 to 142 in 2025, with no company-owned outlets.
Year-end U.S. franchised outlet count
Fiscal years 2023 through September 30, 2025. Company-owned outlets were zero in every period.
Interpretation: The largest change occurred in 2024, when Item 20 records 169 non-renewals and 60 outlets ceasing operations for other reasons. Item 1 separately describes the 2024 System Conversion and says many existing franchisees did not wish to convert; the FDD does not attribute every outlet loss to that conversion.
Source: 2026 LINE-X LLC FDD, Item 20, Tables 1, 3 and 4, pp. 71–78. Reconciliation: year-end totals equal franchised outlets because company-owned outlets equal zero.
Which operating questions remain deal-specific?
The FDD explains the control framework but leaves several location-level facts to the Manual, Territory exhibit, supplier lists, Program criteria and the individual Store’s service mix.
- Obtain the current Core Services and Choice Services lists for the proposed Store.
- Review the exact Territory map and every reserved internet, mobile, fleet and alternative channel.
- Identify the current approved suppliers, sole-source items, order portals and replacement lead times.
- Confirm which POS System, accounting software, hardware, payment processor and data integrations are then required.
- Document the post-first-year management plan and the qualifications required for a Designated Manager.
- Ask for the National Fleet Services Program standards, selection process, work allocation and billing terms.
- For an existing Store, determine whether it operates under the current Conversion Model, a legacy agreement or an incentive addendum.
- Reconcile recent closures, non-renewals and transfers with current franchisee interviews in the target region.
Operating-model synthesis: LINE-X converts retail and commercial vehicle demand into paid coating and accessory-installation jobs performed at a controlled Store. The franchisee’s central responsibility is to manage people, local demand, job quality and regulatory compliance. The strongest dependencies are the authorized product and supplier network, the POS System and LINE-X LLC’s data, marketing and audit controls. The key distinction is that Territory protection covers another brick-and-mortar LINE-X Store, not every channel. The largest undisclosed question is the exact current Core Services, Choice Services, supplier and staffing configuration required forthe proposed location.
