How does Hot Stuff Pizza operate after opening?

Direct answer

Hot Stuff Pizza is operated as an OLM foodservice Unit inside an approved Host Facility. The franchisee or a designated Unit manager runs the Unit full time, while Orion Food Systems, LLC supplies the core food inputs, sets the menu and preparation standards, controls brand materials, and receives detailed operating reports.

Data basis. The legal franchisor is Orion Food Systems, LLC ("OLM"), whose parent is Performance Manufacturing, LLC. The U.S. FDD was issued November 20, 2025 and covers Hot Stuff Pizza, Hot Stuff Kitchen, and other OLM Brands assigned in Attachment A. This analysis uses Items 1, 6, 8, 11, 12, 15, 16, 19 and 20, Franchise Agreement Sections 5-14, and Attachment B. Item 20 reports FY2023-FY2025 data for the combined OLM franchise programs, not Hot Stuff Pizza alone. Public operating pages were checked August 8, 2026.

FDD basis: 2025 U.S. FDD, cover; Item 1, pp. 1-3; Item 20, p. 27; Franchise Agreement Attachment A.

1 site Host Facility franchise The grant is tied to a specific Host Facility, not a protected territory.
12+ hrs Daily operating floor At least 12 business hours when the Host Facility is open.
4 visits Per Operational Year OLM commits to in-person or virtual operating visits, subject to stated exceptions.
655 FY2025 franchised Units Combined OLM FDD population; Item 20 reports zero company-owned outlets.

What does a Hot Stuff Pizza Unit sell, and who buys it?

The Unit sells OLM-authorized ready-to-eat Products for the Brand or Brands in Attachment A, primarily to people using the Host Facility. The franchise is a foodservice program embedded in an existing retail or institutional location rather than a territorially protected standalone restaurant system.

The 2025 FDD lists Host Facilities such as convenience stores, grocery stores, colleges, universities, hospitals, and business or industry sites. Attachment B lists approved pizza varieties across breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus breakfast sandwiches and burritos, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, sandwiches, Stuffed Bites, bakery items, appetizers, and other Products OLM periodically specifies.

OLM controls the authorized menu. The franchisee must offer the full required menu and may not add another product or service unless OLM authorizes it. Delivery, uncooked sales and "Take and Bake" are restricted unless specifically authorized. The FDD does not define a membership or contracted-account customer model.

Verified workflow

How does work move through the Unit?

The operating cycle is supply-led: the Unit orders OLM Ingredients, Packaging, Products and Supplies; staff prepare and merchandise the authorized menu to OLM standards; customer transactions are recorded; and the franchisee reports operating data that OLM can inspect and audit.

Who performs each operating function?

Hot Stuff Pizza may be owner-operated or run by a designated Unit manager, but the manager must devote full time, attention and best efforts to the Unit. OLM does not disclose a required headcount; the franchisee hires and supervises the workforce.

Franchisee / Unit manager

  • Manage the Unit full time and keep it operating during required hours.
  • Order inventory, control stock, supervise food safety and maintain equipment.
  • Ensure transactions and operating information are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Train managers and employees as needed after OLM's designated training requirements.

Unit employees

  • Take orders, prepare Brand recipes, package Products and merchandise the approved menu.
  • Follow cleanliness, HACCP, opening, closing and customer-service procedures.
  • Use OLM-authorized Ingredients, Packaging and procedures rather than substitute food inputs.

Orion Food Systems, LLC

  • Supplies core food inputs and controls menus, recipes, specifications and System Manual standards.
  • Provides ongoing operating counseling and at least four qualifying visits per Operational Year.
  • Approves brand materials and can inspect the Unit and inventory, examine books and records, and audit reported information.
Owner participation

A designated Unit manager can satisfy the full-time operating role if that manager completes OLM training and meets OLM standards. The FDD therefore supports a manager-run structure, but it does not describe the franchise as "absentee" or remove the franchisee's responsibility for employment, reporting and compliance.

FDD basis: Item 15, p. 21; Franchise Agreement Sections 6 and 11(b), pp. 4 and 6.

Inputs and control

Which suppliers, systems and operating controls are mandatory?

OLM is both franchisor and a central operating supplier. The Unit must buy its entire requirement of available Ingredients and Supplies for Product preparation from OLM or an affiliate, while other goods may come from another source only when OLM has not designated a source and the item meets OLM standards.

OLM also controls branded signage and cabinetry sources, menu specifications, food formulas, authorized equipment and Packaging. The Franchise Agreement requires OLM's order process; OLM may choose carriers, set shipping schedules and allocation priorities, and change delivery terms.

The technology requirement is less specific. The 2025 FDD names no mandatory customer-facing POS, CRM or scheduling platform. It requires Unit transactions to be recorded on forms or media OLM designates, with periodic reports in the manner OLM specifies. Current OLM pages mention POS materials and digital tools, but do not replace the FDD's reporting requirement.

Franchisor control

OLM can revise the System and System Manual, change menu items and operating specifications, inspect and audit the Unit, require retraining, and order temporary closure when it considers a public-health or safety issue unresolved. The franchisee must conform to revised System requirements after notice, at the franchisee's cost.

FDD basis: Item 8, pp. 9-10; Item 11, pp. 16-17; Franchise Agreement Sections 5, 8, 10-13, pp. 3-7. Official context: OLM foodservice programs and OLM capabilities.

Which operating decisions remain with the franchisee?

The franchisee controls employment and several local execution choices, but not the Brand's core product, sourcing or quality standards. The practical boundary is: OLM defines the System; the franchisee manages the people and daily execution inside that System.

Franchisee decisions

  • Hire, employ and supervise Unit employees and set wages and employment terms.
  • Choose a designated Unit manager, subject to training and OLM standards.
  • Develop local advertising at the franchisee's expense, subject to OLM's prior written approval of materials and media.
  • Buy non-designated authorized goods from available sources when OLM has not required a particular source.

OLM-controlled decisions

  • Required and authorized Products, menu changes, recipes, portions, preparation and Packaging.
  • Required Ingredients and Supplies, branded signage/cabinetry sources and authorized equipment standards.
  • System Manual revisions, reporting standards, inspections, audits and corrective requirements.
  • Short-term promotional campaigns and limited-time Product offers the Unit must honor.

FDD basis: Item 8, pp. 9-10; Item 11, p. 17; Item 16, p. 21; Franchise Agreement Sections 5, 6 and 14, pp. 3-7.

How much territory protection and channel freedom does the Unit have?

There is no exclusive territory or protected radius. The grant applies to one Host Facility, while the franchisee may accept customers beyond its general market area and use internet, catalog, telemarketing or direct marketing to advertise and make sales from the business.

The channel freedom is not exclusive. OLM and affiliates, including Land Mark Products, Inc., may license other Brands or sell competing food through brokers, distributors, joint marketing, internet, direct sale, mail order and telemarketing inside the franchisee's market area. OLM need not compensate the franchisee for those activities.

Territory limit

Customer reach is broader than the physical Host Facility, but territorial protection is effectively absent. The right to market outside the immediate area does not mean OLM, another franchisee, an affiliate or another channel will stay out of it.

FDD basis: Item 12, pp. 17-18.

Item 20

What does the disclosed outlet footprint show?

Item 20 shows a shrinking combined OLM franchised population over the three reported fiscal years, with no company-owned outlets. These counts cover all franchise programs listed in the FDD and should not be presented as Hot Stuff Pizza-only outlet counts.

Combined OLM franchised outlets at fiscal year-end
Item 20, Table 1 · FY2023-FY2025 · company-owned outlets were 0 in each year
600 700 800 900 823 752 655 FY2023 FY2024 FY2025

The combined FDD population's year-end franchised count declined from 823 in FY2023 to 655 in FY2025; Item 20 does not attribute the causes to a specific Brand.

Buyer verification

What operating details should be verified for a specific Hot Stuff Pizza deal?

The FDD establishes the framework, but deal-specific details depend on the Unit, the Brands in Attachment A and OLM's current System Manual. Those details determine the exact configuration of a location.

  • Attachment A: confirm that Hot Stuff Pizza is the Brand awarded to the Host Facility and identify any additional OLM Brands. OLM's current public franchise page emphasizes Hot Stuff Kitchen.
  • Current menu and service modes: confirm the exact required menu, whether hot-and-ready, made-to-order, delivery or Take and Bake applies, and which points of production or merchandising are approved.
  • Reporting media: identify the current OLM-designated forms or electronic media for transactions and periodic reports; the FDD does not name a mandatory customer-facing POS platform.
  • Manager structure: confirm who will satisfy the full-time management requirement and which managers or employees must complete current training or retraining.
  • Supply path: confirm current order cadence, delivery terms, storage requirements, designated sources and any Product availability constraints for the specific Host Facility.
  • Brand-specific footprint: request current Hot Stuff Pizza-only outlet information if needed, because Item 20's published tables aggregate the OLM franchise programs covered by the FDD.

Operating-model synthesis

Hot Stuff Pizza's central mechanism is the sale of OLM-authorized food Products to Host Facility traffic through a Unit supplied with OLM-controlled Ingredients, recipes, Packaging and menu standards. The franchisee's most important responsibility is disciplined daily execution: staffing the Unit, maintaining food safety and inventory, serving the required menu, and recording and reporting operating activity.

The strongest dependency is OLM's control over core supply, Brand specifications, the System Manual and inspection rights. The most important structural distinction is that the franchise is tied to a specific Host Facility without an exclusive territory, while OLM and affiliates retain broad alternative-distribution rights. The largest unresolved operating question for any deal is the exact Brand/menu configuration and current reporting technology specified for that Unit.
