Operating model

How does a GarageExperts franchise operate after opening?

Direct answer

GarageExperts is a primarily mobile, project-based installation business. A local franchisee generates and receives leads, conducts in-person assessments, designs and quotes Garage FX flooring or storage projects, orders controlled inputs, deploys trained crews, installs at the customer site, collects payment, handles warranty work, and reports operating data through required systems.

Offering and demand

What does the franchisee sell, and who buys it?

The 2026 FDD defines the franchised business as the design, sale and installation of customized residential garage storage systems, decorative concrete coatings, garage floor coatings and authorized industrial floor coatings. The public consumer site groups the offer into Garage FX epoxy and polyaspartic flooring, custom cabinets, slatwall and related storage solutions.

Residential demand

Owner-occupied households

Homeowners buy floor coatings, cabinets and organization systems for garages and other approved concrete or storage applications. The transaction normally begins with a local inquiry and an on-site assessment rather than a remote product sale.

Commercial demand

Commercial and industrial sites

Retail stores, warehouses, shops and other business properties buy approved floor-coating projects. GarageExperts may also serve multi-site customers through the National Accounts program, where Garage Experts International LLC controls solicitation and contract administration.

Authorized scope

All and only approved work

The franchisee must offer all required Authorized Products and Services and may not add unrelated work. Garage Experts International LLC can add offerings or discontinue an approved offering, with a 30-day stop period after written notice for a discontinued item.

How does work move through a GarageExperts territory?

Owner role and staffing

Can the business be manager-run?

Yes, an entity franchisee may use a General Manager who is not an owner, but the model is not contractually described as absentee. The accepted General Manager must devote full time and best efforts solely to the GarageExperts business, hold day-to-day authority, complete training and communicate with Garage Experts International LLC.

Owner participation

The contractual requirement attaches to the full-time General Manager role, not necessarily to an equity owner. The official franchisee-experience page describes owners as focusing on sales and crew management, while permitting delegation to a General Manager, salesperson and lead installers as the local organization develops.

  • Sales: The Operations Manual states a best-practices requirement to hire a Full Time Salesperson between months six and nine to keep the installation pipeline filled.
  • Installation: The franchisee must employ and train enough employees and installers to operate adequately; the FDD does not prescribe a universal headcount or staffing ratio.
  • Local employment decisions: Hiring, firing, supervision, schedules, compensation and employment-law compliance remain the franchisee's responsibility.
  • Continuity: The Franchise Agreement requires operation at least six days and 48 hours per week and requires a manager when the owner is away.

Inputs and operating systems

Which suppliers, assets and technology are mandatory?

The supply chain is vertically controlled. Versatile High-Performance Coatings, LLC, or VHPC, is the only approved supplier for floor coatings, floor-repair products, application sundries, slatwall systems, cabinets and the trade-show floor. The franchisee orders inventory as needed but must retain enough Designated Products and Ancillary Products to meet reasonably anticipated demand.

Supplier dependency

Item 8 estimates that 80%-90% of establishment and ongoing lease-and-purchase expenditures are subject to source or specification restrictions. A proposed alternative supplier may be reviewed for eligible Ancillary Products, but no written approval within 60 days means disapproval; the VHPC sole-source categories remain controlled.

Physical operating base An approved Office inside the Trade Area, at least 500 square feet of warehouse space, delivery capability, wrapped Vehicles and specified installation equipment.
Required information stack ServiceMinder, Office 365, proprietary 3-D software, trackable phone numbers, QuickBooks Online, ProfitKeeper and Franchise Central.
Required records access Garage Experts International LLC receives unrestricted electronic access to customer, transaction and operational information and may require upgrades or replacement systems.

FDD source: 2026 FDD, Item 8, pp. 18-22; Item 11, pp. 27-31. The official 2025 technology-platform announcement describes ServiceMinder, Podium, LiveStorage and CompanyCam; the FDD controls mandatory status.

Responsibility map

What does the franchisor control, and what remains local?

Garage Experts International LLC controls the System, approved offer, supplier network, trademarks, manuals, technology access, advertising standards and National Accounts rules. The franchisee remains the local employer, contracting party and service operator responsible for sales execution, installations, customer resolution, compliance and records.

Franchisee

Executes the local business

Selects and manages staff, schedules jobs, sets local prices because no minimum or maximum prices are imposed, secures licenses, maintains the Office and Vehicles, performs installations, collects payment and carries warranty responsibility.

Garage Experts International LLC

Defines and audits the System

Approves the General Manager, site, advertising and product scope; changes the Operations Manual; controls Internet use and National Accounts; accesses data; inspects records, job documentation, Vehicles and operating locations; and can require corrective action.

Affiliates and vendors

Control critical dependencies

VHPC supplies core materials and equipment. Envision IP, LLC owns the licensed marks. The designated bookkeeping service and named technology vendors support accounting, CRM, design, communications and documentation, subject to franchisor specifications.

Franchisor control

Garage Experts International LLC can inspect operating and financial records, request job-site photos or video, require a correction within 72 hours, shorten the period to 24 hours for an imminent public-health or safety issue, and treat unapproved coating products as grounds for immediate termination.

Territory and channels

How do Standard Territory and Micro-Territory rights differ?

The two offers use the same primarily mobile operating path; the principal disclosed difference is the Qualified Household population used to draw the Trade Area. Neither offer receives an exclusive territory, and continuation of territorial rights is subject to the Franchise Agreement's minimum annual sales quotas beginning in the third calendar year.

Offer Trade Area basis Operating consequence
Standard Territory Approximately 75,000-100,000 Qualified Households Same authorized services, Office, Vehicles, systems and supplier controls.
Micro-Territory Approximately 25,000-74,999 Qualified Households Smaller population band; no separate workflow or staffing model is disclosed.
Both offers Non-exclusive Trade Area set by Garage Experts International LLC Outside-area solicitation and order acceptance are restricted unless approved or covered by a protocol.

Internet and social-media marketing may extend outside the Trade Area only under brand guidelines. Trade-show leads are allocated to the GarageExperts franchise covering the lead's residence, while National Accounts can be solicited and administered centrally; the local franchisee may perform assigned work under the franchisor's terms, dispatch and billing rules.

System footprint

What does Item 20 show about the outlet base?

Item 20 reports a wholly franchised year-end outlet population through 2025. Franchised outlets finished 2023 and 2024 at 104, then rose to 110 at December 31, 2025; company-owned outlets remained zero in each reported year.

Item 20 signal

The zero company-owned count is date-specific. Item 1 separately states that affiliate Installed Products Group, LLC began operating company stores in Texas in March 2026, after the December 31, 2025 Item 20 reporting date; affiliate-owned stores should not be relabeled as franchisor-owned outlets.

Buyer verification

Which operating questions remain most important to verify?

The FDD defines the core mechanics but does not disclose a standard crew size, vehicle count, job mix, conversion rate or appointment capacity. A buyer should test how the contractual controls translate into the specific Trade Area and local labor market.

  • Confirm whether the proposed Trade Area is Standard Territory or Micro-Territory and obtain the exact Qualified Household map in Schedule 1.
  • Ask which of ServiceMinder, Podium, LiveStorage, CompanyCam, Franchise Central, ProfitKeeper and other platforms are mandatory on the signing date, and who owns each data set.
  • Verify the current VHPC lead times, order minimums, freight rules, stockout allocation and warranty-material process for Garage FX flooring, cabinets and slatwall.
  • Request the current Operations Manual sections for Sales & Pricing, Staffing, Field Operations, Reports, Audits & Inspections and Vehicle Administration.
  • Clarify how Call Center leads, trade-show leads, Internet Referral Sources and National Accounts are assigned, documented, billed and transferred across Trade Areas.

Operating-model synthesis

What is the practical operating conclusion?

GarageExperts generates project sales by converting local and centrally routed inquiries into customized Garage FX flooring, cabinet and slatwall installations. The franchisee's central responsibility is to keep a compliant sales-to-installation pipeline staffed, supplied, documented and serviced. The strongest dependencies are VHPC's sole-source product categoriesand Garage Experts International LLC's control over Authorized Products and Services, data systems, advertising and Trade Area rules.

The main format distinction is Qualified Household count, not workflow. The largest undisclosed question is the local crew, vehicle and appointment capacity needed to fulfill demand under the required service and reporting standards.
