How does opening a Poolwerx franchise work?

Milestone-only roadmap

The 2026 FDD does not disclose one complete period from inquiry to opening. The binding post-signing milestones are clearer: the Poolwerx Mobile Unit must open within 60 days of the Franchise Agreement’s Effective Date, and the required Retail Location must open within 36 months. Applicant approval, territory availability, training scheduling, licensing, vehicle delivery, site acquisition and construction can each affect the actual path.

Data basis: Poolwerx Franchise Management LLC, U.S. Franchise Disclosure Document issued May 29, 2026; standard Mobile Unit-to-Retail Location offer. Timeline mode: milestone-only. Evidence: FDD Items 1, 5–12, 15–17 and 20; Franchise Agreement; Site Selection Addendum; Personal Guaranty; and landlord consent. Public pages checked July 14, 2026: official franchise site, FAQs, investment information, and franchise options. No verified franchise-controlled public 2026 FDD was found; FDD citations are therefore unlinked.

QUALIFICATION

What must a Poolwerx applicant qualify for?

Poolwerx’s public screening information lists financial and personal preferences, while the 2026 FDD controls the contractual owner, manager and guaranty requirements.

The official FAQ currently states a minimum of approximately $80,000–$100,000 in liquid capital and $150,000–$300,000 in net worth, depending on the operating model. Those figures are marketing-stage screening thresholds, not minimums restated in the 2026 FDD, and meeting them does not guarantee approval. The site says prior pool-industry experience is unnecessary and favors full-time, growth-oriented candidates able to manage a small team.

✓Financial screenConfirm which website threshold applies to the applicant, ownership group and proposed path.
✓Owner or ManagerThe open business must remain under the personal, on-premises supervision of the owner or an approved Manager.
✓Training attendeeThe franchisee, a principal owner or approved Manager must satisfactorily complete Initial Training.
✓Personal GuarantyAll direct and indirect owners, plus spouses of interest holders, must sign when required.
✓No invented credit minimumThe new-unit disclosures do not publish a minimum credit score, education level or application fee.
✓Entity authorityThe principal equity owner must control business decisions and be able to bind the franchisee entity.

Evidence: official Poolwerx FAQ and franchise-options pages; 2026 FDD Items 10 and 15, pp. 22 and 41–42; Franchise Agreement Sections 7.2, 7.6 and 8.1. Request any background, credit or additional approval standard in writing; the FDD gives no complete applicant checklist or decision timetable. Despite website financing language, Item 10 says Poolwerx offers no direct or indirect financing and does not guarantee a note, lease or other obligation.

APPLICATION TO MOBILE OPENING

What must happen from first inquiry to the Mobile Unit launch?

The public candidate journey and the contractual opening sequence are related but not identical: inquiry and Discovery Day occur before award, while the 60-day Mobile Unit clock begins only when the Franchise Agreement becomes effective.

CONTRACTUAL DEADLINE

The official FAQ says candidates may begin accepting customers about 60–120 days after signing. The current Franchise Agreement is stricter: the Mobile Unit must commence operations within 60 days of the Effective Date. Treat the website range as non-contractual marketing context and obtain written clarification before relying on a launch date.

DEADLINE CHART

Which requirements count backward from the Mobile Unit opening date?

Four disclosed milestones share the same reference point—the planned opening date—so they can be compared without implying that the underlying work takes only the number of days shown.

Pre-opening deadline ladder
Days before the scheduled Mobile Unit opening
Insurance certificate delivered
20 days
Launch marketing typically begins
14 days
Bank and EFT information delivered
10 days
Initial Training completed
3 days

Interpretation: Insurance evidence is the earliest fixed pre-opening submission. Marketing, banking and training milestones follow, but vehicle procurement, licensing and supplier delivery may need to start much earlier.

SITE APPROVAL

How does the required Retail Location move from territory to opening?

The franchisee finds, investigates, leases and builds the site; Poolwerx supplies criteria and must give written site and lease approval. The standard Retail Location must open within 36 months of the Franchise Agreement Effective Date.

Retail site approval flow
Each arrow is a dependency, not a promise that the next approval will be granted.
1 · TERRITORY
Confirm the mapped area
The Retail Location must sit inside the Territory described in the Data Sheet.
2 · SEARCH
Locate and investigate a site
Franchisee responsibility; consider rent, neighboring tenants, parking and frontage.
3 · PACKAGE
Submit site form and LOI
Provide the complete site review package and any requested market or fit-out information.
4 · DECISION
Obtain written approval
Poolwerx has 30 days after complete receipt; silence is not approval.
5 · LEASE
Secure lease approval
Do not sign first; landlord consent may be required. Send the executed lease within 10 days.
6 · DESIGN
Prepare plans and fit-out
Franchisee obtains drawings, contractors, permits and code compliance to Poolwerx standards.
7 · READINESS
Install systems and inventory
Complete equipment, signage, technology, staffing, insurance and retail launch marketing.
8 · OPEN
Receive approval and commence retail
Standard deadline: within 36 months, unless Poolwerx agrees otherwise in writing.

SITE APPROVAL IS NOT TERRITORY PROTECTION

The Territory is defined when the Franchise Agreement is signed and typically contains about 6,500 residential pools, subject to reserved rights. Site approval only confirms that Poolwerx accepts a proposed Retail Location under its criteria; it is not a warranty of sales, profitability, zoning, lease economics or construction feasibility.

The FDD says the site package should be submitted approximately three to six months before the intended retail opening. The Franchise Agreement also requires location approval at least 90 days before the end of the 36-month period. If the proposed site is rejected, the franchisee must propose another; failure to meet the opening deadline can support termination unless Poolwerx agrees to an extension.

OPENING READINESS

What must be complete before Poolwerx can authorize opening?

Construction completion or training completion alone is not opening authorization. Poolwerx states that it approves the Mobile Unit and Retail Location openings only after all applicable prerequisites are met.

Franchisee-controlled
Entity, owners, guaranties and approved Manager
Licenses, certifications, permits and proof
Vehicle, equipment, inventory, uniforms and technology

Retail site, lease and design-standard review
Third-party dependent

Before launch, verify the current opening checklist. Disclosed categories include satisfactory Initial Training; approved vehicle, inventory and equipment; insurance evidence; licenses and permits; EFT details; approved technology; launch marketing; and trained personnel under the owner or Manager’s supervision.

TRAINING REQUIREMENT

The public homepage labels Pool School a “4-week” program, while the 2026 FDD specifies 21 hours of online modules plus approximately 11 days of Initial Training. The FDD governs the contractual minimum; ask whether the four-week description includes onboarding, field practice or other activities outside the formal Initial Training Program.

FORMAT DIFFERENCES

What changes for a resale, conversion or multiple Poolwerx purchase?

The FDD fully documents the standard new-unit path and a transfer path. The official website also markets conversions, but the 2026 FDD does not attach a separate conversion agreement or standardized conversion-opening schedule.

Path Governing document Opening-process difference Verify before proceeding
New franchise One Franchise Agreement Open Mobile Unit within 60 days; add Retail Location within 36 months. Territory map, training date and written opening checklist.
Existing Poolwerx resale Section 14 transfer documents plus current FDD Transferee qualification, training, licenses, landlord consent and a current agreement or approved assignment may be required. A mobile-only transfer can face a 12-month retail deadline. Exact transfer conditions, remaining lease term and projects in progress.
Independent-business conversion Not separately identified in this FDD Official website markets a Partnership Program, but no distinct conversion sequence is disclosed in the current agreements. Conversion agreement, rebranding scope, inherited liabilities and opening authorization criteria.
Multiple businesses Separate Franchise Agreement for each business Poolwerx may delay second and later openings, but no fixed delay or Area Development Agreement is disclosed. Written unit schedule, territory sequence and consequences for delay.

BUYER VERIFICATION

What should be verified before signing and again before opening?

The most decision-useful checks are the items that can stop the 60-day Mobile Unit deadline or the 36-month Retail Location deadline.

1Approval recordAsk for the written application criteria, background and credit process, approval authority and decision timing.
2Territory exhibitReview the exact Data Sheet map, pool count methodology, reserved rights and out-of-territory restrictions.
3Launch calendarReconcile training availability, the contractual 60-day deadline and the website’s 60–120 day estimate.
4Local authority pathConfirm applicable contractor, pool-operator, chemical-storage, vehicle, sales-tax, zoning and building requirements.
5Supply lead timesObtain the current approved-supplier list and delivery dates for the vehicle, wrap, equipment, inventory and systems.
6Retail critical pathConfirm complete-package requirements, lease conditions, landlord consent, design reviews and written extension standards.
7Opening authorizationRequest the current evidence checklist and identify who signs the final Mobile Unit and Retail Location approval.
8Franchisee validationCall a representative group of current and former operators from Item 20 and Exhibit H about actual sequencing and delays.

The federal disclosure clock uses calendar days, not business days: under 16 CFR §436.2, the disclosure document must generally be furnished at least 14 calendar days before the prospect signs a binding agreement or pays the franchisor or an affiliate. The FTC’s franchise buyer guidance explains how to use the FDD for due diligence. State addenda and registration rules may change the applicable documents.

SYNTHESIS

What is the practical Poolwerx opening conclusion?

The verified path is screening, FDD review, Discovery Day, approval and signing, Mobile Unit setup and training, opening approval, then Retail Location site approval, lease review, buildout and authorization. The total inquiry-to-opening duration is undisclosed. The main applicant dependency is completing licenses, insurance, approved purchases and training within 60 days. Key outside dependencies are training availability, supplier delivery and written site/lease approval. Before signing, resolve timing differences and any 36-month Retail Location extension conditions.
