A FocalPoint Unit is a territory-based business coaching and consulting practice. The franchisee, a Managing Owner, or an approved Business Manager runs the unit full time, develops local clients, sells authorized coaching, training, consulting, strategic-planning, and assessment services, delivers the work through the FocalPoint Franchise System, and records the practice through required technology and reporting processes.
The unit is primarily a professional-services sales-and-delivery operation, not a retail outlet. Local prospecting creates client conversations; structured discovery and a Strategic Business Review lead to program selection and onboarding; trained coaches then deliver the Services. FocalPoint Coaching, Inc. controls the authorized offer, System Standards, technology, advertising approval, supplier rules, reporting, inspections, and pricing requirements.
What does a FocalPoint Unit sell, and who buys it?
The Franchised Business sells authorized business coaching, training, and consulting Services to small businesses and professionals. Current official pages describe the demand side more specifically as business owners, executives, managers, and leadership teams.
The public FocalPoint solutions overview presents Business & Executive Coaching, Strategic Planning, Talent Assessments, and Training. The 2026 FDD is controlling: the franchisee must offer all goods and Services that FocalPoint Coaching, Inc. periodically requires and may not sell an unauthorized product or service. System Standards can change the permitted program menu, materials, equipment, and Proprietary Products without a stated limit.
Coaching and consulting
The official U.S. brand site describes coaches as serving business owners and leadership teams on decisions, operating challenges, and leadership development.
Planning, training, and assessments
Strategic Planning, topic-specific Training, and Talent Assessments are part of the public offer. If the unit chooses TTI personality-profile access codes, it must obtain them through FocalPoint, an affiliate, or the designated supplier; TTI Success Insights explains its DISC assessment.
Client acquisition is a unit responsibility. Item 1 states that franchisees solicit and obtain small businesses and professionals as clients in their respective Territories. FocalPoint also operates consumer-facing discovery channels, including an official Find a Coach directory, but the FDD does not promise a lead volume, lead assignment method, or protected ownership of website inquiries.
How does work move from prospecting to ongoing coaching?
The Operations Manual table of contents discloses a brand-specific Client Acquisition Process that moves through prospecting, discovery, a short coaching conversation, a Strategic Business Review, sale and onboarding, then coaching delivery. The final operating layer is CRM use, bookkeeping, Gross Sales reporting, financial reporting, and record retention.

The FDD and disclosed Operations Manual headings do not define client invoicing, collections, cancellations, refunds, or renewals in enough detail to map those steps. They also omit the current Minimum Client Base number, which FocalPoint sets from the franchisee’s 90-day business plan.
Can the unit be absentee-owned or delegated to employees?
The contract requires full-time management and supervision. The full-time operator may be the franchisee, an entity franchisee’s Managing Owner, or an approved Business Manager who completes FocalPoint training. This is a manager-run option, not disclosed absentee operation.
The unit must maintain a competent, conscientious, trained staff, including a fully trained full-time manager. A Business Manager and assistant managers do not need equity, but their identities must be reported to FocalPoint Coaching, Inc., and they must sign prescribed confidentiality and noncompetition commitments. The franchisee may retain no more than three employees or independent contractors as Associates to help provide the Services; each Associate requires franchisor approval and Associate training before serving clients.
Item 15 requires the franchisee, Managing Owner, or approved Business Manager to devote full time and effort to management and supervision. The franchisor may regulate staffing levels, personnel identification, qualifications, training, dress, and appearance through System Standards.
Who controls the operating inputs and decisions?
The franchisee controls daily execution and local business administration within a tightly prescribed framework. FocalPoint Coaching, Inc. controls the Franchise System and key approvals. Designated suppliers control mandatory technology and selected operating inputs.
Franchisee side
- Identify and develop clients within the Territory.
- Select a residential or approved non-residential Office and maintain it.
- Hire, supervise, and pay the unit’s personnel.
- Deliver authorized Services and maintain client records.
- Acquire, maintain, secure, and upgrade the Computer System.
- Maintain bookkeeping, submit reports, and retain records.
Franchisor side
- License the Marks and confidential FocalPoint Franchise System.
- Issue and change the Operations Manual and System Standards.
- Approve Services, Proprietary Products, suppliers, advertising, Associates, and Business Managers.
- Set maximum, minimum, or other pricing requirements where lawful.
- Direct the Advertising and Development Fund and provide operating guidance.
- Access data, inspect operations, interview clients, and audit records.
Third-party dependencies
- HubSpot CRM is the current designated CRM and application-service supplier.
- LinkedIn is the current designated sales-generation platform when the marketing support initiative applies.
- TTI is the current designated source for optional personality-profile access codes.
- A designated advertising supplier is mandatory whenever the franchisee chooses an advertising service.
- Approved vendors may supply compliant hardware, Office assets, and other inputs.
Which systems and operating restrictions are mandatory?
Every unit and each Associate needs a compliant Computer System, and the unit must license the designated HubSpot CRM. Proprietary Products come only from FocalPoint, its affiliates, or designated suppliers. The franchisor can change specifications, access operating data, require upgrades, approve advertising, control authorized offerings, and inspect the business.
- Technology requirementSales and client information must be stored through the specified Computer System and designated CRM. FocalPoint has independent, unlimited access to generated information and may connect remotely after prior notice.
- Supplier classificationProprietary Products are restricted-source purchases. Other assets may be subject to specifications, approved suppliers, designated suppliers, or future exclusive sourcing.
- Advertising controlThere is no minimum local-ad spend, but local materials must follow brand rules. Item 8 states deemed approval after 5 days; Item 11 and Franchise Agreement Section 9 state 30 days, an internal timing difference to reconcile.
- Minimum Client BaseThe franchisee must reach and maintain a franchisor-designated active-client count. A missed requirement triggers the paid marketing support initiative and the designated LinkedIn subscription.
- Data and audit rightsGross Sales reports are monthly; operating and financial information is quarterly; annual financial statements are required. Records remain at the Office for at least seven years and are subject to inspection or audit.
- Operating changesFocalPoint may modify System Standards, required Services, Proprietary Products, Computer System specifications, and pricing requirements, potentially increasing unit operating obligations.
FocalPoint supplies the Operations Manual, training, approved marketing formats, and guidance based on reports or inspections. Its public FP Learn certification environment shows modules for business setup, client acquisition, communication, and coaching practice. Daily client development, staffing, Office compliance, technology maintenance, bookkeeping, and recordkeeping remain unit responsibilities.
Does the franchisee receive an exclusive market?
No. The Territory is approved and defined by FocalPoint but is expressly non-exclusive. A typical Territory includes about 100,000 residents and/or workers, although there is no minimum size. The franchisee must advertise and solicit clients only within that Territory.
FocalPoint may place another FocalPoint Franchised Business inside the Territory, serve national accounts, operate at Non-Traditional Sites, and use alternative channels without compensation to the unit. The franchisee may not use Internet, catalog, telemarketing, or other direct marketing to make sales. It may serve an out-of-territory client only when indirect digital-media marketing produced that client.
The Territory governs where the unit may advertise, solicit, and operate; it does not create exclusive customers, national accounts, digital channels, Non-Traditional Sites, or a protected outlet radius. Relocating the Office also requires approval, subject to a different rule for a home Office moved with the franchisee’s residence.
What does Item 20 show about the operating network?
FocalPoint reported an entirely franchised U.S. outlet base at each year-end from 2023 through 2025. The network grew from 169 outlets at December 31, 2023 to 229 at December 31, 2025, while company-owned outlets remained at zero.

Franchised outlet count; company-owned count was 0 in all three years
The outlet count increased by 32 in 2024 and 28 in 2025. In 2025, 69 openings were offset by 33 terminations, 2 nonrenewals, and 6 outlets that ceased operations for other reasons.

Which operating questions remain open?
The FDD defines the control structure but leaves several day-to-day commercial details to System Standards, the current Operations Manual, the franchisee’s 90-day plan, and local execution. These points require direct document-level verification before treating the workflow as complete.
- What active-client number will FocalPoint designate as the Minimum Client Base for the specific Territory and 90-day business plan?
- Which coaching, training, consulting, Strategic Planning, Talent Assessment, and Proprietary Product programs are currently required, optional, or prohibited?
- How are client agreements, invoicing, collections, cancellations, refunds, renewals, and recurring engagements administered in the current operating materials?
- How does the official website or Find a Coach directory route inquiries, and does the unit receive any defined lead ownership or response-time obligation?
- Which HubSpot configuration, fields, pipeline stages, application-service systems, security controls, and data exports are currently mandatory?
- What current pricing requirements, approved advertising suppliers, LinkedIn subscription, and TTI access-code procedures apply to the proposed unit?
What is the FocalPoint Unit operating-model bottom line?
The model depends on local acquisition and delivery of authorized Services to business clients. Its critical unit responsibility is a full-time trained operator who prospects, sells, coaches, supervises personnel, and keeps complete records. FocalPoint’s strongest control is its ability to change System Standards, offerings, technology, advertising, suppliers, pricing requirements, data access, and audit rules. The key distinction is a non-exclusive Territory with restricted outbound channels. Verify the current program mix, Minimum Client Base, pricing, billing, collections, and lead routing.
