A Crown Trophy franchise is a territory-based physical retail Store that markets locally, takes customer orders for approved awards and promotional Products, performs assembly and engraving work, records every sale in the required Computer System, and reports customer-level sales to Crown Trophy, Inc. Internet selling is restricted; Crown Awards, Inc. separately operates the affiliate online and catalog channel.
Data basis: Crown Trophy, Inc. 2026 Franchise Disclosure Document, issued April 28, 2026. What does the Store sell, and who buys it?
The Franchised Business sells the defined Products: trophies, awards, medals, plaques, ribbons, desk accessories, laminations, promotional items and similar recognition products. The 2026 FDD identifies businesses, schools, organizations, leagues and individuals as the primary customer groups. Crown Trophy, Inc. can require the Store to offer specified Products and services, and the Franchise Agreement limits ordinary merchandise to approved items, including products contained in the annual Crown catalogs unless another product receives written approval.
Signs by Crown is an optional add-on inside the Crown Trophy franchise, not a separate franchise format. A franchisee that elects it may make and sell custom signs and related products and services, but must use designated or quality-approved sign-package suppliers. The 2026 FDD does not publish a separate staffing model, territory, or outlet count for Signs by Crown, so those differences should not be inferred.
Channel limit
The local Store is not an unrestricted e-commerce business. Item 16 and Franchise Agreement Article IX prohibit franchisee Internet or other electronic-commerce selling unless Crown Trophy, Inc. authorizes the activity within the agreement's approval framework. By contrast, affiliate Crown Awards, Inc. runs an Internet and catalog awards business and may obtain and fulfill orders inside a franchisee's Territory.

How does work move through a Crown Trophy Store?
The governing documents do not publish a single numbered customer-service procedure, but they disclose enough linked obligations to map the operating path without inventing hidden steps. The verified sequence below follows required marketing, approved-product selling, in-store production capabilities, point-of-sale recording and recurring reporting.
Stage 1
Generate local demand
Actor: Franchisee or employee.
Action: Maintain a regular marketing program for at least three hours per day or 15 hours per week, use approved media, and market within the Territory.
Action: Sell only approved Products and services, using current catalog and product standards; the franchisee sets customer prices subject to any lawful maximum price Crown Trophy, Inc. may impose.
Required system/asset: Current catalogs, approved samples and Franchisor-approved inventory.
Output: Approved customer order.
Stage 3
Source and produce
Actor: Store staff plus approved suppliers.
Action: Pull approved inventory or purchase through approved/designated sources, then perform applicable plaque and trophy assembly, custom-award and engraving work. Crown Exclusive products may be sold only fully assembled.
Required system/asset: Approved equipment, engraving capability, inventory and supplier network.
Output: Completed approved Product.
Stage 4
Record payment and sale
Actor: Store staff.
Action: Record every sale and Gross Revenue through an approved computer-based point-of-sale or designated Cash Register System; designated card vendors and PCI requirements apply when accepting credit or debit cards.
Required system/asset: Computer System, Required Software and approved payment processing.
Output: Transaction and customer data in the Store records.
Stage 5
Report and retain records
Actor: Franchisee or manager.
Action: Submit the monthly Customer Sales Summary Report and Franchisor Royalty Statement Invoice by the 10th for the prior month; annually report sales by customer and purchases by vendor.
Required system/asset: Prescribed accounting records and report forms.
Output: Franchisor reporting, audit trail and inputs for ongoing account management.
Stage 6
Repeat local account development
Actor: Franchisee or employee.

Who performs each function?
The Store may use a non-owner manager, but the documents do not support absentee operation. Item 15 says the franchisee and/or fully trained manager must devote full time and best efforts and requires direct, on-premises supervision by a manager who completed Crown Trophy training. Franchise Agreement §5.8 separately states that the Franchisee must devote full-time best efforts to operating and developing the business; Crown Trophy, Inc. also has approval rights over the manager, who need not hold equity.
Franchisee
Runs the unit
EmploymentHiring, firing, pay, scheduling, supervision, discipline and employee training remain solely with the franchisee.
Local executionCustomer service, order handling, assembly/engraving work, inventory maintenance and local marketing are unit responsibilities.
Commercial choicesThe franchisee chooses customer prices subject to any lawful maximum price and may extend Store hours beyond required minimums.
Crown Trophy, Inc.
Defines the system
StandardsApproves Products, suppliers, advertising, technology, manager qualification and Store location.
ControlsCan inspect the Store, audit records, modify the Manual, require system upgrades and change authorized goods/services.
SupportProvides operating advice, written materials, suggested minimum pricing, training and post-opening in-store assistance.
Third parties
Supply constrained inputs
Approved suppliersProvide inventory, equipment and supplies that meet Crown Trophy specifications.
Crown Awards, Inc.Is an approved Product supplier and a separate affiliate Internet/catalog seller.
Technology/payment vendorsProvide required software, security and card-processing services under franchisor-approved arrangements.
Owner participation
A designated manager can provide the required on-premises supervision, but Franchise Agreement §5.8 separately requires the Franchisee to devote full-time best efforts. Item 15 uses the broader “franchisee and/or fully-trained manager” formulation. Neither formulation supports describing Crown Trophy as passive, semi-absentee or absentee ownership.

Which suppliers and systems are mandatory?
Crown Trophy, Inc. controls inputs through specifications and supplier approval rather than requiring every Product to come from one source. The Start-Up Package is purchased from the franchisor or designated vendors; ongoing Products must meet current standards and come from approved suppliers. Crown Trophy, Inc. and Crown Awards, Inc. are approved Product suppliers, and Crown Exclusive products can be restricted to licensed exclusive suppliers.
Computer System
The 2026 Franchise Agreement requires the specified hardware/software configuration and compatible point-of-sale recording. Exhibit F lists Windows 11 Pro, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365 applications, Act! Premium Desktop v27 and FortiClient, while the agreement permits Crown Trophy, Inc. to require upgrades and replacement standards. Public vendor references: Act! v27 system requirements, QuickBooks Desktop, Microsoft 365 for business and FortiClient documentation.
Sales and reporting
All sales must be recorded on an approved computer-based point-of-sale or designated Cash Register System. Monthly customer-level sales reporting and the Franchisor Royalty Statement Invoice are required; annual reports identify sales by customer and purchases by vendor.
Data and privacy
The Franchise Agreement says Store customer and transaction data are owned by Crown Trophy, Inc., which licenses use back to the franchisee during the term. Item 11 says the franchisor has no independent online access to Store data, while §5.13 requires unimpeded Computer System and Required Software access when requested; Crown Trophy, Inc. can also require reports and approve privacy policies and third-party technology outsourcing.
Card processing
Crown Trophy, Inc. can designate mandatory Credit Card Vendors and payment methods. Franchisees accepting cards must follow the then-current Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards; see the PCI Security Standards Council.
Technology requirement
Technology is not just a local tool choice. Crown Trophy, Inc. can specify the Computer System, Required Software, database structure, upgrade cycle, approved technology vendors and reporting fields. The agreement also restricts unapproved websites, electronic solicitations and generative-AI use in Store operations, marketing and customer communications.

How do Territory and channel rules shape customer acquisition?
The Territory is a combination of ZIP-code areas built from the Approved Location until it reaches the lesser of 150,000 people or a seven-mile radius. Crown Trophy, Inc. agrees not to establish or franchise another Crown Trophy Franchised Business inside that Territory, but the FDD expressly says the territory is not fully exclusive because reserved channels and affiliate activity can reach the same customers.
What the Store may do
Solicit inside the TerritoryLocal marketing and sales are directed to customers and prospects within the assigned Territory unless written approval permits otherwise.
Serve uncovered areas temporarilyBusiness from an area with no Crown Trophy location may be kept until a new franchise opens there, after which turnover rules apply.
Ship from a headquarters accountAn account headquartered in the Territory may support shipments to that account's outside outlets under the FDD's stated rule.
What remains reserved
Affiliate digital salesCrown Awards, Inc. may sell by Internet or catalog and fulfill orders within the Territory without compensating the Store.
National AccountsFranchisees may not actively solicit National Accounts of Crown Trophy, Inc. or its affiliates, including local outlets of those accounts.
Cross-territory solicitationUnauthorized solicitation in another franchisee's Territory can trigger gross-profit sharing and loss of territorial protection.

What does Item 20 show about the operating footprint?
Item 20 shows a franchise-only outlet footprint across the reported three-year period: Crown Trophy, Inc. reported no company-owned Stores at year-end 2023, 2024 or 2025. Franchised year-end outlets declined from 134 to 129 to 127. Table 3 also reports no franchised openings in those years; the 2025 decline reflects two outlets that ceased operations for reasons other than termination, nonrenewal or franchisor reacquisition.

Which operating questions still require buyer verification?
The 2026 FDD is specific on contractual controls but does not disclose unit headcount, shift design, order-cycle timing, delivery practices, customer mix by channel, or product mix. Item 19 makes no financial performance representation, so the operating evidence does not support estimating revenue concentration by customer type or Product category.

Actual staffing patternUse franchisee interviews to determine how owners divide sales, engraving/assembly, marketing, bookkeeping and manager coverage; the FDD does not publish a standard headcount.
What is the Crown Trophy operating model in practical terms?
The central customer mechanism is local, Territory-based selling of approved recognition Products through a physical Crown Trophy Store, supported by ongoing outbound marketing, in-store order execution, assembly/engraving capability and required sales reporting. The franchisee's most important responsibility is day-to-day execution: staffing, local marketing, customer service, inventory and compliant recordkeeping.
The strongest dependency is Crown Trophy, Inc.'s control over approved Products, suppliers, Computer System standards, customer/transaction data, advertising, Store inspections and Territory/channel rules. The most important distinction is that Crown Awards, Inc. retains a separate Internet/catalog channel that can sell into the same Territory. The largest unresolved operating question is the current, real-world staffing and digital-sales workflow at a representative 2026 Store.
